“I was overweight, and my flexibility mobility has always been bad. My form was all over the place. In hindsight my shoulder was stuffed, and people always asked if I had an injury because unknowingly I walked with a strange gait. Walking used to feel strange. I often walked with pain and felt like I was dragging a leg.
I was starting to lose my balance, falling and I was seriously thinking “shit this is it”. Things will only get worse from here. I went online and searched for “training for life”, and that is how I found Core Strength. I don’t know if it was fate, but that is why I emailed Sylvia while I was still overseas feeling sad and depressed climbing stairs (often without handrails) throughout Europe and the US.
Now I have lost weight and generally feel great. There is so much that I still need to do, but at Core Strength I feel like I have a home and a routine which will allow me to keep making small steps and training for life.
Strength training has given me a focus. There are obvious improvements in confidence that come when you start feeling good about yourself, but exercise helps with brain function. It makes me better at what I do. My posture has improved 10 fold. I can start to engage certain muscles that I know should be involved.
I am far from perfect, but I can say that I don’t slouch nearly as much. I think I may have even grown an inch taller!! Core Strength programs provide the right mix, of stretching, warm-ups, strength and cardio so that you know you have really worked hard. With tailored workouts to meet individual needs, you are always challenged (or otherwise advised to get a heavier kettlebell), and receive instantaneous feedback on performance (based on the weights lifted).
Training for life gets me out of bed in the morning, and I have never been a morning person!”
